About the position

As our Desk Producer, Video (Level 1 Journalist - Temp), you will play a crucial role in overseeing overnight newsgathering and production in North America. This position requires you to produce, edit, write, and deliver agency video stories from both the office and the field. You will be expected to respond quickly to major breaking news events in a responsible manner, showcasing your ability to work under pressure while maintaining high editorial standards. A sharp eye for visual news elements and video storytelling is essential, as is a thorough understanding of television editorial technology and social media. Excellent communication skills are a must, as you will be collaborating with various teams to ensure the timely delivery of news content. The role involves shift work, covering overnight shifts and weekend work, which means you must be adaptable and willing to work long hours. You will need to make decisions in an unsupervised environment, demonstrating your ability to handle the demands of a fast-paced news environment. Your significant experience as a professional video producer will be invaluable, as will your track record of working with multimedia and video packaging teams. Experience in broadcast or agency television newsgathering and production is also required, along with strong skills in driving accuracy and speed while upholding Thomson Reuters' editorial principles and policies. You should have a clear understanding of the needs of broadcast and digital clients, both regionally and internationally, and be willing to travel to breaking news stories at short notice. Excellent English writing skills are essential for this role.
