About the position

The Desktop Engineer/Support position is a contractor role within the Commonwealth Service Desk, Technical Services Team, located in Frankfort. The primary focus of this role is to provide desktop support and troubleshooting services to ensure efficient operation of IT systems. The position requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle various technical issues in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide desktop support duties and troubleshooting for IT systems.
  • Assist customers with technical issues over the phone and in person.
  • Maintain excellent customer service standards during interactions.
  • Document issues and resolutions clearly and concisely.
  • Take ownership of customer issues and follow through to resolution.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of IT experience as a Help Desk or Desktop Support technician.
  • Excellent customer service skills and temperament.
  • Strong communication skills and critical thinking ability.
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to simplify explanations for customers.
  • Ability to handle upset or angry customers with patience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a customer service-oriented workplace.
  • Knowledge of Windows 7 and 10 Operating Systems.
  • Experience with mapping network drives and Global Protect support.
  • Familiarity with Office Suite, particularly Outlook 2013 or higher.
  • Experience with ServiceNow Ticketing System and knowledge base writing.
  • Experience with Active Directory for password resets.
  • Experience in remote support or desktop support.
