About the position

The Desktop Field Support Specialist is a mid-level position focused on providing onsite technical support for desktop and laptop issues in various environments such as schools, local government, and healthcare. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, and resolving hardware and software issues, as well as managing case documentation and customer interactions effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite service to render assistance for desktop/laptop support requests via phone, email, and onsite visits.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, isolate, repair, and resolve all customer desktop issues including hardware and software, mobile devices, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Perform basic Active Directory administration including user login, password management, and ID lookup.
  • Troubleshoot and service basic networking components.
  • Upgrade existing customer hardware and software as needed.
  • Proactively manage the case management system and implement solutions with proper documentation.
  • Complete multiple simultaneous projects in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in desktop/laptop hardware and software support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated patience and courteous behavior in customer interactions.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Capability to track time associated with work orders and maintain a case load.

Nice-to-haves

  • Any relevant certifications, ideally A+ and Network+.
  • Willingness to start training for Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate.
