About the position

The Desktop Support Engineer I (DSE 1) is responsible for providing front-line support for IT-managed systems to both local and remote end-users. This role involves desktop and laptop support, mobile device management, user account management in Active Directory, and basic Windows server administration. The DSE 1 must demonstrate excellent communication skills to effectively resolve technical issues for non-technical team members and create technical documentation for end-users.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line support for IT-managed systems for local and remote end-users.
  • Install and maintain operating systems (Windows 10 and 11) on desktops and laptops.
  • Monitor and address virus/spam-related issues on the network.
  • Manage user provisioning in local Active Directory and AzureAD/Exchange Online.
  • Maintain and monitor desk phones, smartphones, desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Ensure systems availability and support Active Directory and file server management.
  • Report project progress to team lead and participate in defining project requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Participate in regular after-hours on-call support rotation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, MIS or equivalent.
  • 4+ years experience in advanced Desktop and Laptop Support.
  • MCP Certification is required; MCSA Windows/Servers certification is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a supervised environment.
  • Customer-oriented mindset.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated patch management.
  • Basic knowledge of different backup solutions.
