About the position

The Desktop Support Engineer I is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to end-users, ensuring prompt resolution of hardware and software issues. This role is crucial for maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure and facilitating smooth daily operations. The position offers a hybrid work model after an initial training period in the office, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements while supporting clients primarily in New Jersey and New York City.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to incoming support requests from end-users via phone, email, or ticketing system.
  • Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and other IT-related issues.
  • Document and track all support requests using the ticketing system.
  • Help with the setup and installation of computer hardware, peripheral devices, and software applications.
  • Assist end-users with password resets, account creation, and access permissions.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting of network connectivity issues and escalate complex problems when necessary.
  • Assist in updating software applications and operating systems on end-users' devices.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of support documentation and knowledge base articles.
  • Assist in inventory management of IT assets and keep records of hardware and software licenses.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and participate in training sessions.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve complex issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, software applications, and networking concepts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot technical issues systematically.
  • Customer-centric approach with a focus on providing a positive support experience.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes in technology.
