About the position

We are looking to hire a Desktop Support Engineer to provide fast and effective support for computer hardware and software issues. You will be required to work on-site or via remote connection and assist with hardware installations, software upgrades, systems integrations, and troubleshoot basic IT-related issues. To ensure success, you should have extensive knowledge of current operating systems and applications, good problem-solving skills, and high-level interpersonal skills. As a Desktop Support Engineer, you will provide remote and on-site support for one or more locations as needed. This includes responding to end user support requests and escalations from the Helpdesk via tickets. You will be responsible for hardware installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting, as well as installing Windows software, patches, updates, and third-party applications. Knowledge of desktop encryption and workstation deployments will be essential, along with workstation image creation and management. You will also provide basic guidance in computer operation and management, and participate in special projects as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide remote and on-site support for one or more locations as needed
  • Respond to end user support requests and escalations from the Helpdesk via tickets
  • Perform hardware installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting
  • Install Windows software, patches, updates, and 3rd party applications
  • Manage desktop encryption
  • Conduct workstation deployments
  • Create and manage workstation images
  • Provide basic guidance in computer operation and management
  • Participate in special projects as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology preferred
  • 2 to 3 years of IT experience
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate preferred
  • A+ Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of computer hardware systems, chipsets, memory modules, and peripherals
  • Knowledge of SCCM and other popular organizations endpoint support systems
  • Knowledge of PowerShell, scripting, Group Policy and Active Directory
  • Experience with Dell and HP computer hardware
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 and 11 operating systems and domain environments
  • Experience with mobile devices (IOS, Android, Windows)
  • Ability to independently research, troubleshoot and solve complex hardware and software issues
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to travel and work after hours support/On-Call when necessary
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills required to communicate action items taken to resolve IT-related issues to end-users in terms easily understood
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
