About the position

The Desktop Support Engineer role at Robert Half in Mentor, Ohio, is a long-term contract position focused on providing technical support and managing software applications within a corporate environment. The engineer will handle escalated issues, manage software licenses, assist with automation tasks, and contribute to IT project management, ensuring smooth operations and efficient service delivery.

Responsibilities

• Handle escalated technical issues to ensure smooth operations.
• Manage software licenses, including the renewal of licenses, to ensure compliance and uninterrupted service.
• Utilize PowerShell, SCCM, and Intune to perform tasks and resolve issues.
• Assist in packaging within Intune to optimize software deployment.
• Deploy or remove applications in the corporate environment to meet business needs.
• Contribute to automation tasks to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Provide break fix solutions to resolve hardware or software malfunctions.
• Assist with new hire provisioning processes to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
• Contribute to IT project management, including leading certain projects when required.
• Work in a corporate environment, providing support to a large number of users.

Requirements

• Proven work experience as a Desktop Support Engineer, IT Support Technician or similar role for a minimum of 3 years
• Experience with remote desktop support and break fix
• Understanding of desktop hardware and related technologies
• Familiarity with IT project management and its methodologies
• Ability to manage license agreements and related software documentation
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work well under pressure
• Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Relevant certifications in IT or related field would be advantageous
• Willingness to keep up-to-date with the latest technology trends and continue to develop professionally.
