About the position

The Desktop Support Engineer position at Sybex Support Services LLC is a part-time, independent contractor role focused on providing technical support for end-user computing devices. The role requires troubleshooting, problem resolution, and coordination with third-party vendors to ensure efficient operation of hardware and software. This position is specifically for Mondays only, making it ideal for individuals seeking flexible work arrangements while still engaging in meaningful technical support tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues for all End User Computing (EUC) devices and basic network devices.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors to resolve hardware problems as required.
  • Install and test replacement spare parts.
  • Perform PC reimaging and create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform hardware shell swaps in response to non-functional and damaged machines.
  • Provide technical support in a fast-paced environment, including VIP support.
  • Support Windows-based environments, including Windows 7, Windows 10, and Office 365.
  • Assist end users via telephone and email with a wide range of questions and problems.
  • Monitor and track incidents in the ticketing system, recognizing high priority tickets.
  • Update assigned tickets with troubleshooting activities and resolutions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in technical support roles.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and break/fix of End User Computing hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting Windows-based environments and mobile devices.
  • Bi-lingual proficiency in English and local language is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a hybrid Windows and MAC environment.
  • 1+ years of experience with mobile applications/products including iPhone, iPad, and Android platforms.
  • ITIL v3 foundation qualification.
  • MCP/MCSA certification.
