About the position

The Desktop Support L3 Engineer position at Tata Consultancy Services Limited involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities focused on network and data center management. The role requires a deep understanding of network technologies, including LAN, WAN, and wireless systems. The engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting and administering Cisco Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing, as well as managing Cisco wireless networks and PBX systems. A key aspect of the job is ensuring the smooth operation of network infrastructure, which includes tasks such as cable patching, switch configuration and deployment, and port management. The engineer will also analyze network traffic and maintain network performance through effective monitoring and troubleshooting techniques. In addition to network responsibilities, the role encompasses data center management, where the engineer will oversee site infrastructure, including power, UPS, HVAC, and cabling systems. The position requires experience in installing and troubleshooting server room hardware components, such as rack servers, fiber optics, switches, disk drives, and memory. The engineer will also be expected to provide smart hands support for remote teams and manage third-party vendor relationships for issue escalation and resolution. This multifaceted role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service delivery in a dynamic IT environment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and administer Cisco Layer 2 & Layer 3 Routing.
  • Manage Cisco Wireless Networks and Cisco PBX Administration.
  • Support IT Cabling, Infrastructure Planning, and Design.
  • Perform cable patching, switch configuration, and port management.
  • Analyze network traffic and maintain network performance.
  • Conduct network maintenance, support, and refresh activities.
  • Provide smart hands support for remote teams.
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships for issue escalation and resolution.
  • Oversee site infrastructure knowledge including Power/UPS, HVAC, and cabling.
  • Install and troubleshoot server room hardware components.

Requirements

  • Cisco CCNA certification is required.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, Subnetting, VLAN, and POE.
  • Experience with packet capturing tools, such as Wire Shark.
  • Proven ability to support IT cabling and infrastructure planning.
  • Experience in network maintenance and support.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Cisco standard protocols.
  • Familiarity with data center management practices.
  • Knowledge of server room hardware components.
