About the position
The Desktop Support Specialist will provide comprehensive IT support within one of Chicago's largest private investment companies. This full-time role will initially be onsite and transition to a hybrid model. The specialist will be responsible for maintaining desktop and server systems, ensuring smooth operations, and responding promptly to support requests while collaborating effectively with team members across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Provide desktop and laptop support, including builds and maintenance (60% of role)
- Assist with server and infrastructure builds and support, with training provided if needed
- Manage Windows 2022 Server and Windows 11 environments
- Support MS Office applications
- Maintain network infrastructure including firewalls, switches, and Windows servers
- Implement patch management using KACE
- Participate in security vulnerability management and log reviews
- Stay updated on new technology standards and practices
- Collaborate with team members to ensure effective operations
Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft server/desktop products, including maintenance, tuning, and security
- Experience with desktop/laptop builds and support
- Familiarity with network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and LAN/WAN
- Basic Windows Server administration skills
- Knowledge of patch management and security vulnerability management
Nice-to-haves
- 1-3 years of experience in IT support or a related role
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience with Azure cloud services
