About the position

The Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support to end users in Canton, MA. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network issues, as well as installing and configuring desktop systems and applications. The specialist will ensure proper documentation of support activities and collaborate with other IT teams to address complex issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support by troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and network issues for desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Respond to helpdesk tickets and provide on-site or remote support to end users in a timely manner.
  • Set up new equipment by installing and configuring new workstations and applications.
  • Maintain documentation of issues, resolutions, and processes in the helpdesk system.
  • Support software deployment and upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to the end user's work.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to escalate and resolve more complex issues.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in desktop support or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Experience working with Active Directory and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with remote desktop tools like VNC, TeamViewer, RDP, and IT ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, or similar).
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts (IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, etc.).
