About the position

The Desktop Support Specialist role at Oneida Technical Solutions, LLC involves providing technical support and expertise in managing Microsoft Windows Active Directory and performing migrations from older versions to newer ones. The position requires a strong background in IT support, particularly in environments related to the U.S. Department of Defense and other regulated sectors. The successful candidate will collaborate with various teams to develop and implement migration strategies, ensuring compliance with security standards and effective communication with government stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory, including the implementation of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and STIG settings.
  • Support the migration of Windows Active Directory from 2003/2008 to 2012 or the most recent version.
  • Collaborate with Server Operations and application teams to develop and test migration strategies.
  • Maintain hardened Windows operating systems to STIG compliance.
  • Build, configure, and manage Microsoft Windows servers in multi-tenant enterprise environments.
  • Utilize VB/Powershell for automation of common functions.
  • Work with large scale datacenter design and operations, including virtual infrastructure management.
  • Interact with government customers and senior leadership, providing excellent communication and support.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience in desktop engineering or related fields.
  • Must possess a SECRET security clearance or be able to obtain one.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification is required.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ Certification is mandatory.
  • Experience with Windows migrations and Active Directory upgrades is desired.
  • Experience managing Windows systems, including Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012.
  • Experience with Enterprise Backup software and maintaining STIG compliance is desired.
  • Experience with LAN/WAN and wireless interfaces.

Nice-to-haves

  • ITIL v3 Foundations Certification.
  • Experience writing shell scripts and utility programs for Windows system maintenance.
  • Experience with SCCM methodologies.
  • Experience working with virtual infrastructure (i.e., VMWare).
  • Experience deploying and supporting Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and 2016 STIG.
