About the position

The Desktop Support Specialist will act as a key liaison between users and the technology department, focusing on resolving technical issues and leading teams on various projects. This role involves providing recommendations for application use and assisting job sites with their connectivity needs, requiring frequent travel to ensure proper setup and support for field personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Assist users in person, via phone, and email on company supported hardware and applications
  • Work with users on application projects
  • Troubleshoot and determine the source of computer problems (hardware, software, user access, etc.), documenting resolutions for future reference
  • Perform hardware and software installations
  • Serve as liaison between users and the technology department to resolve issues
  • Coordinate with other technology groups as needed
  • Communicate and assist users with their connectivity requirements throughout the entire lifecycle of the job
  • Order Internet connections from service providers
  • Configure router, switches, and access points for office connectivity
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues for outer offices
  • Provide recommendations on company application purchases

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS or equivalent required
  • 3+ years' experience with hands-on desktop, network support role with proven skills within Microsoft Windows environments
  • Ability to lead a team on varied technical projects; comfortable being the tech of last resort for difficult problems
  • Experience in the industrial or construction industry preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office is required
  • Experience with iPads and iPhones
  • Ability to use time productively, maximize efficiency, and meet challenging work goals
  • Ability to work in a strong collaborative atmosphere
  • Professionalism with end-user communication & ticket resolution

Nice-to-haves

  • A+, Net+, and CCNA Certifications preferred
