About the position

The Desktop Support Technician plays a crucial role in providing customer support for Information Technology at Marshall Medical Center. This position focuses on troubleshooting and resolving issues related to telecom equipment, software, hardware, and client peripherals. The technician is responsible for installations, repairs, and ensuring effective use of organizational software applications, primarily interacting with clients through various support mediums.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer support for IT-related issues including telecom equipment, software, hardware, and client peripherals.
  • Install and repair client devices such as desktop PCs, laptops, tablets, mobile devices, printers, monitors, and scanners.
  • Troubleshoot device connectivity issues and facilitate the effective use of organizational software applications.
  • Act as an escalation point for helpdesk staff when in-person service is required or when resolution complexity increases.
  • Instruct and advise customers on the use of hardware and software, including department-specific applications.
  • Assist with account administration in applications managed by IT, including Active Directory administration and file permissions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology and computer operations is required.
  • Experience working in a healthcare facility is desirable.
  • Familiarity with hospital information systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of common IT issues, troubleshooting methods, and client operations system issues is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and writing skills are essential.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with account administration including permissions and methodologies.
  • Impeccable customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and multi-task effectively.
