About the position

The Desktop Support Technician role at CompuCom involves providing technical support for core infrastructure and desktop technologies in an onsite capacity in Ft Stockton, TX. The technician will work closely with client IT design teams and Level 1 Service Desk, ensuring consistent processes and procedures are followed across the client's enterprise environment. This position requires extensive travel to field locations and some overnight stays, making it essential for the technician to be adaptable and responsive to various technical challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary desktop support for Windows operating systems and mobile device management infrastructure.
  • Ensure consistent processes, procedures, and technologies are utilized across the client's enterprise environment.
  • Document recurring issues in the client knowledge base.
  • Maintain detailed case status and tasks/work completed with end users in the client ITSM system.
  • Rack and stack physical devices as needed.
  • Install new ethernet cabling, with mass cabling requirements handled through a vendor.
  • Perform basic networking troubleshooting.
  • Conduct MACD (move, add, change, delete) activities for end user LAN and voice devices.
  • Connect to device consoles and share screens through Microsoft Teams/Webex.
  • Follow the client critical incident process and required safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of combined experience in desktop support and related technologies.
  • Proficient in mobile device management and mobile web apps, particularly iOS.
  • Experience with Active Directory administration.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for Windows 10 operating system.
  • Proficient in using Windows registry and Microsoft Office 365 support.
  • Strong hardware troubleshooting skills to differentiate between hardware and software issues.
  • General knowledge of Mac troubleshooting and networking.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Intune and printer support.
  • Experience with video conferencing system support and Azure MFA troubleshooting.
  • Ability to perform desktop imaging and provide strong customer service.
