About the position

The Desktop Support Technician will assist in a Computer Replacement Project, providing support for both Dell PCs and Macs in a higher education environment. The role involves replacing computers, transferring local data, and installing individual software applications as needed. The technician will also handle day-to-day IT support tasks and manage ticket backlogs when not engaged in replacements. Strong customer service skills are essential for this position.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the Computer Replacement Project by replacing Dell PCs and Macs.
• Transfer local data to new devices during replacements.
• Install individual software applications as required for users with special applications.
• Provide day-to-day IT support and manage ticket backlog when not engaged in replacements.
• Deliver excellent customer service to users during the support process.

Requirements

• Experience with both Dell PCs and Macs, with a preference for PC experience.
• Familiarity with Windows 10 operating system.
• Previous experience in desktop support and IT support roles.
• Ability to handle data transfers and software installations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with SCCM and JAMF for computer configuration.
• Familiarity with TeamDynamix as a ticketing tool.
• Knowledge of Papercut printing systems.
