About the position

The Desktop Support role in Lansing, MI, is a contract position focused on providing hands-on technical support for end users, primarily dealing with Windows and Mac systems. The position requires a proactive approach to resolving hardware and software issues, supporting audio/video conferencing equipment, and assisting with new user onboarding. The ideal candidate will have a strong customer service orientation and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end user support for Windows PC and Mac related issues.
  • Assign and manage incident tickets through Service Now.
  • Support meeting rooms, including audio/video conferencing hardware.
  • Assist with new user onboarding and prepare necessary IT equipment.
  • Follow technical guides for retiring and wiping old devices.
  • Image and configure new PCs according to technical guides.
  • Resolve end user issues related to hardware and software.
  • Document issues and gather information for tickets in Service Now.
  • Maintain a proactive mindset and eagerness to learn.
  • Fix issues and support various client operating systems, including Windows and Mac.
  • Support iOS and other handheld devices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues, particularly with Dell and Mac PCs.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience in end user support for Windows PC and Mac.
  • Experience with incident ticketing systems, specifically Service Now.
  • Ability to support audio/video conferencing hardware.
  • Experience in new user onboarding and IT equipment preparation.
  • Knowledge of technical guides for device retirement and imaging.
  • Proficient in resolving hardware and software issues for end users.
  • Strong note-taking and information-gathering skills for ticket documentation.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and help others.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Office Suite, including Office 365.
  • Technical knowledge of various hardware platforms for troubleshooting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in customer support (1 year preferred).
  • Experience with iOS (1 year preferred).
  • Experience with Windows (1 year preferred).
