About the position

The Detail Drafter position at the Port of Catoosa involves creating detailed drawings for air-cooled heat exchangers intended for shop fabrication. The role requires collaboration with mechanical design engineers and shop personnel to ensure accurate and efficient production of components such as bundle assemblies, plenums, columns, ladders, and platforms. The position emphasizes the importance of drafting skills, particularly in 3D assembly and part modeling, as well as familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Detail air-cooled heat exchangers for shop fabrication.
• Prepare shop detail drawings, including bundle assemblies, plenums, columns, ladders, and platforms.
• Communicate with mechanical design engineers and shop personnel.
• Apply general knowledge of welded steel fabrication practices.
• Utilize drafting skills for 3D assembly and part modeling, 2D parts drawings, and flat patterns.

Requirements

• Certification with Fundamentals and Principles of CAD Design classes and a minimum of three (3) years' experience in heat exchanger and/or structural steel drafting; OR an Associate's degree in CAD Drafting and Design with a minimum of one (1) year experience in structural steel fabrication drafting.
• General knowledge of welded steel fabrication practices.
• Proficiency in drafting skills, including 3D assembly and part modeling, 2D parts drawings, and flat patterns.
• Computer skills including Windows and Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with American Petroleum Institute 661 standards.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements regarding walkways, handrails, stairs, and equipment guards.
