About the position

The Detailer/AutoCAD Drafter position at Nucor Rebar Fab South Central involves detailing rebar projects primarily in the Houston and Dallas areas. The role requires adherence to safety standards and the ability to work on both commercial and civil projects, ensuring accurate detailing and material preparation for rebar installation.

Responsibilities

• Detail commercial and civil projects related to rebar supply and installation.
• Adhere to Nucor Rebar Fabrication's safety programs and standards.
• Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication's vision and values.
• Develop knowledge of industry reference materials such as CRSI and ACI manuals.
• Verify drawings, dates, specifications, and other contractual information.
• Detail more complex projects with supervision, including jobs with columns, beams, and slabs.
• Communicate any changes made to contract documents to the supervisor.
• Detail accessories, mesh, couplers, and dowel bars, and prepare material lists as required.
• Collaborate with job site personnel to determine project requirements for detailing and material delivery.
• Work with architects/engineers regarding problems or questions on contract documents.
• Produce material lists from RebarCAD and manage replacement orders as needed.
• Enter all drawings for submission into the drawing tracking system.
• Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting from an accredited school or college, or equivalent training and work experience.
• At least one year of experience detailing rebar using a CAD-based detailing system.

Nice-to-haves

• Two-year technical degree from an accredited school or college.
• Knowledge and experience in construction and concrete-related construction.
• Working knowledge of industry reference materials such as CRSI and ACI.
