About the position

As a Detailer/AutoCAD Drafter at Nucor Rebar Fabrication, you will play a crucial role in detailing commercial and civil projects related to the supply and installation of rebar. This in-office position requires a strong adherence to safety programs and standards set forth by Nucor Rebar Fabrication. You will be expected to demonstrate conduct that aligns with the company's vision and values while continuously developing your knowledge of industry reference materials such as the CRSI and ACI manuals. Your primary responsibilities will include verifying drawings, dates, specifications, addenda, and other contractual information from the routing sheet or directly from the business system. You will work closely with supervision to begin detailing more complex projects, which may involve jobs with columns, beams, one and two-way slabs, and grade beams. It is essential to communicate any changes made to the contract documents to your supervisor, whether these changes arise from the approval drawings, field modifications, or your own adjustments. In addition to detailing accessories, mesh, couplers, and dowel bars, you will prepare material lists as required. Collaboration with job site personnel will be necessary to determine project requirements for detailing and the delivery of materials. You will also engage with architects and engineers regarding any problems or questions related to contract documents. Your role will involve producing material lists for all products using RebarCAD and generating replacement orders as needed. Furthermore, you will be responsible for entering all drawings for submission into the drawing tracking system and performing other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Nucor Rebar Fabrication's safety programs and standards.
  • Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication's vision and values.
  • Continue developing knowledge of industry reference material (i.e. CRSI and ACI manuals).
  • Verify drawings, dates, specifications, addenda and other contractual information from the routing sheet or directly from the business system.
  • Work with supervision to begin detailing more complex projects (i.e. jobs with columns, beams, one and two way slabs, and grade beams).
  • Bring any change(s) made to the contract documents to the attention of your supervisor.
  • Detail accessories, mesh, couplers and dowel bars and prepare material lists as required.
  • Work with job site personnel to determine project requirements for detailing and delivery of material.
  • Collaborate with A/E regarding problems or questions on contract documents.
  • Produce the material list for all products from RebarCAD and produce replacement orders as required.
  • Enter all drawings for submission into drawing tracking system.
  • Perform other duties as required by your supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Vocational certificate in CAD design/drafting issued from an accredited school or college, or equivalent combination of training and work experience.
  • At least one year of experience detailing rebar using a CAD-based detailing system.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two year technical degree from an accredited school or college.
  • Construction and concrete related construction knowledge and experience.
  • Working knowledge of industry reference material (i.e. CRSI and ACI).
