About the position

The Detective position at Maricopa County is a full-time role focused on gathering facts and collecting evidence to assist in the prosecution of criminal cases. The Detective will engage in various investigative activities, work closely with Prosecuting Attorneys, and contribute to the completion and disposition of cases. This role is ideal for experienced law enforcement professionals looking to make a significant impact in the pursuit of truth and justice.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews of victims/witnesses in criminal cases
• Locate witnesses, documents, information, and evidentiary items
• Develop, utilize, and maintain informants and information resources
• Conduct internal administrative investigations as assigned
• Compose extensive reports, memos, and other correspondence using a computer
• Serve criminal subpoenas, legal process and/or documents as required
• Maintain AZ peace officer certification requirements in accordance with AZ POST Admin Code R-13-4-111 for all sworn positions
• Meet with attorneys and assist in the preparation of cases for trial
• Testify in court as required
• Perform advanced, specialized, or original criminal investigations, which may involve undercover or covert responsibilities, search warrants, and arrests
• Operate a motor vehicle

Requirements

• Five years of full-time law enforcement experience
• Two years of experience in a full-time plain clothes investigative assignment
• High School diploma or GED
• Certified by the State of Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZ POST) as a full authority Peace Officer
• Valid AZ Driver's License upon hire

Nice-to-haves
