Responsibilities

• Monitor prisoners' activities and maintain necessary records.
• Adhere to the Culture, Mission and Values of the Brazos County Sheriff's Office.
• Follow the Inmate Behavior Management philosophy and Direct Supervision model of inmate supervision.
• Perform searches of inmates and persons entering the secured area of the detention center.
• Supervise, schedule, and document activities within the jail, including recreational, religious, educational, and work activities.
• Conduct inspections, shakedowns, and inmate searches for contraband items.
• Transport inmates between various facilities as needed.
• Complete necessary reports and documents, entering inmate information into the computer.
• Inspect and maintain safety equipment, detection, and alarm systems.
• Intervene and resolve crisis situations, including physical restraint of inmates.
• Conduct head counts of inmates and serve meals.
