Detention Officer

About the position

The Detention Officer is responsible for maintaining order, safety, and security within a correctional facility. This role involves direct supervision of inmates/residents during various activities, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. The officer may need to employ weapons or force when necessary and must be adaptable to work in different areas of the facility and on various shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain order and security of residents in a correctional facility.
• Supervise inmates/residents during meals, recreation, and work assignments.
• Engage in various work areas including armory/key control, housing units, kitchen, medical, and visitation.
• Enforce policies and regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies as required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to work any post assignment on any shift.
