About the position
The Afternoon Teacher at Deutsch Early Childhood Center (DECC) is responsible for providing a nurturing and safe environment for preschool-aged children during the aftercare program. This role involves engaging children in age-appropriate activities and ensuring their well-being as they transition from their regular school day to the afternoon program.
Responsibilities
- Provides for a safe and secure environment for children
- Implements age-appropriate games and projects
- Performs and engages in all planned activities
- Monitors student development and progress
- Communicates with parents as needed
Requirements
- Working towards a B.A. Degree from an accredited four-year college or university or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles and methods of curriculum
- Knowledge of, education or training in and/or experience in Childcare, Early Childhood, Elementary Education or Jewish Education
- Demonstrated ability to articulate the school's vision and mission
- Familiarity with safety procedures and precautions
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion
- The ability to work with diverse groups of people
- Willingness and ability to work with DECC Director and other teachers
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in teaching
- Child Development Associate Certification
