About the position

The DevOps Cloud Consultant at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a pivotal role that combines technical expertise with leadership in the realm of cloud computing. This position requires a seasoned professional with over five years of experience as a technical specialist, particularly in architecting and automating provisioning (Infrastructure as Code - IaC) and configuration management for both infrastructure and applications. The consultant will be responsible for envisioning, designing, building, and managing release systems, code merging, and promotion, as well as CI/CD workflows and tools. The role demands hands-on experience with various programming and scripting languages, including Shell, Python, Ruby, Perl, Java, .Net, or C++. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required, along with a current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above. In this role, the DevOps Consultant will lead enterprise customers through significant organizational and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) transformations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the DevOps operating model, which integrates cultural philosophies, practices, and tools to enable organizations to deliver applications and infrastructure solutions safely and at high velocity. The consultant will work closely with public sector customers, providing innovative solutions that enhance mission readiness and success. This position is not remote; candidates must be willing to work from designated locations or customer sites at least one day a week. The consultant will also be responsible for architecting and building highly secure, scalable cloud-native DevOps solutions, staying updated with the latest DevOps trends and technologies, and advising on public cloud best security practices. The role requires good exposure to Agile software development and DevSecOps practices, ensuring that the consultant can effectively collaborate within an agile team environment. The position emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies, making it essential for the consultant to engage in deep architecture discussions and design exercises to create world-class solutions built on AWS.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a technical leader alongside customer business, development, and infrastructure teams.
  • Architect and build highly secure, scalable cloud-native DevOps solutions for customers.
  • Stay updated with new DevOps trends and technologies.
  • Advise and implement public cloud best security practices.
  • Work in an agile team environment and contribute to Agile software development and DevSecOps practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a technical specialist with hands-on experience in architecting and automated provisioning (IaC).
  • Experience in configuration management for infrastructure and applications.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD workflows and tools.
  • Proficiency in mainline programming and scripting languages such as Shell, Python, Ruby, Perl, Java, .Net, or C++.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Public Sector clients.
  • Strong understanding of large scale computing solutions.
  • Past experience working as a consultant.
  • Experience with CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible in production environments.
  • Knowledge of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, load balancing, and firewall configurations.
  • Experience with monitoring and log aggregating frameworks like CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk, and APM tools.
  • Understanding of microservices and distributed application architecture.
  • Experience leading the certification or accreditation of cloud workloads to meet industry standards such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and NIST/DoD frameworks.
