About the position

As a DevOps Engineer at GDIT, you will deliver innovative solutions to complex problems, focusing on application development and enhancing the end-user experience. This role supports USSOCOM at Fort Liberty, NC, and involves managing distributed services, automating platform services, and ensuring system security and reliability. You will be part of a team that prioritizes career growth and the safety of today and the intelligence of tomorrow.

Responsibilities

  • Automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.
  • Manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency.
  • Guide and manage software releases for new features.
  • Perform administrative operations of server hardware and software.
  • Ensure system security and execute practices and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot system-related problems.
  • Remain current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments.
  • Recommend future direction or projects to management.
  • Provide expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience in IT and/or software development.
  • Experience in deploying applications in an Enterprise Cloud environment.
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Continuous Integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bamboo).
  • Experience in VMware vSphere/ESXi/NSX-T.
  • Experience with networking technologies (e.g., load balancing, DNS, SSL).
  • Competent to work at a high technical level on all phases of systems engineering activities.
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II required (Level III preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack.
  • Experience with automation/orchestration tools (e.g., Chef, Ansible).
  • Experience with platform as a service products (e.g., Cloud Foundry, Heroku).
  • Understanding of systems monitoring and analytics tools (e.g., Prometheus, Splunk).
  • Background in Windows deployment and automation.
  • Experience with database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
