About the position

As a DevOps Cloud Engineer at GDIT, you will deliver innovative solutions to complex problems, focusing on application deployment and management in a cloud environment. Your role will involve automating processes, managing system reliability, and ensuring security while supporting USSOCOM. You will be part of a team that prioritizes user experience and career growth, contributing to mission-critical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.
  • Manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency.
  • Guide and manage software releases for new features.
  • Perform administrative operations of server hardware and software.
  • Ensure system security and execute best practices and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot system-related problems.
  • Stay current with operating systems/software analysis and technological developments.
  • Provide expertise in the development or modification of software programs and applications.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience in IT and/or software development.
  • Experience in deploying applications in an Enterprise Cloud environment.
  • 5 years of experience with Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools such as Concourse, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Bamboo, or TeamCity.
  • Experience in VMware vSphere / ESXi / NSX-T.
  • Strong understanding of networking technologies (load balancing, DNS, SSL, firewalls, NAT, SDN).
  • Proficient in using Git and release management practices.
  • Experience supporting production systems using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II certification required (Level III preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack.
  • Familiarity with automation/orchestration tools like Chef, Ansible, BOSH.
  • Experience with platform as a service products such as Cloud Foundry, Heroku, or Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Knowledge of systems monitoring and analytics tools (Prometheus, New Relic, ELK, etc.).
  • Background in Windows deployment and automation technologies.
  • Experience with databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MSSQL) and messaging middleware (RabbitMQ).
