As a DevOps Engineer you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on Dev Ops Engineer joining our team to support USSOCOM at Fort Liberty, NC. As a DevOps Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for distributed and managed services, automating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services. You will manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency and guide and manage software releases for new features and support users through consolidation. Occasionally performs the administrative operation of server hardware and software. Ensures system security and executes practices and procedures. Troubleshoots system related problems. Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications. Recommends future direction or projects to management. Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications to enhance an operating system.

Responsibilities

  • Automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.
  • Manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency.
  • Guide and manage software releases for new features.
  • Support users through consolidation of services.
  • Perform administrative operations of server hardware and software.
  • Ensure system security and execute practices and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot system-related problems.
  • Remain current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments.
  • Recommend future direction or projects to management.
  • Provide expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs.

Requirements

  • Must have experience in deploying applications from end to end in an Enterprise Cloud environment.
  • 5 years of IT and/or software experience.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Participated in or led agile development teams.
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps methodologies.
  • Worked with Continuous Integration tools such as Concourse, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity.
  • Experience in VMware vSphere / ESXi / NSX-T.
  • Experience with networking and related technologies (e.g. load balancing / DNS / SSL / firewalls / NAT / SDN).
  • Experienced in using Git.
  • Experience in release management.
  • Experience supporting production systems using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Competent to work at a high technical level on all phases of systems engineering activities.
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact; effective listening skills and follow through.
  • Solid work ethic and the ability to work in a mission-critical environment.
  • Detail-oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work.
  • Provides technical guidance and leadership to engineers with less experience.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II required (Level III preferred).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and OpenStack.
  • Experience with automation/orchestration tools such as Chef, Ansible, BOSH.
  • Experience with platform as a service products like Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Experience working with DNS, NTP, SAML, OAuth 2, Active Directory.
  • Understanding of systems monitoring, alerting and analytics tools (e.g. Prometheus, New Relic, AppDynamics, etc.).
  • Background in Windows deployment, automation, and related technologies.
  • Experience with database technologies (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MSSQL) and messaging middleware technologies (e.g. RabbitMQ).
