About the position

As a DevOps Cloud Engineer at GDIT, you will deliver innovative solutions to complex problems, focusing on the unique requirements of clients. Your role will involve automating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services, ensuring system reliability and efficiency, and managing software releases. You will work closely with USSOCOM at Fort Liberty, NC, contributing to mission-critical projects and enhancing user experiences through application development.

Responsibilities

  • Automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.
  • Manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency.
  • Guide and manage software releases for new features.
  • Perform administrative operations of server hardware and software.
  • Ensure system security and execute practices and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot system-related problems.
  • Remain current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments.
  • Recommend future direction or projects to management.
  • Provide expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience in IT and/or software development.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II required (Level III preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools such as Concourse, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Bamboo, or TeamCity.
  • Experience in VMware vSphere / ESXi / NSX-T.
  • Experience with networking technologies (e.g., load balancing, DNS, SSL, firewalls, NAT, SDN).
  • Proficient in using Git and release management practices.
  • Experience supporting production systems using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack.
  • Experience with automation/orchestration tools like Chef, Ansible, BOSH.
  • Experience with platform as a service products such as Cloud Foundry, Heroku, or Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Understanding of systems monitoring and analytics tools (e.g., Prometheus, New Relic, ELK).
  • Background in Windows deployment and automation technologies.
  • Experience with databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and messaging middleware technologies (e.g., RabbitMQ).
