About the position

As a DevOps Engineer at GDIT, you will deliver innovative solutions to complex problems, focusing on application development and enhancing the end-user experience. This role supports USSOCOM at Fort Liberty, NC, and involves managing distributed services, automating installations, and ensuring system security and reliability. Your expertise will contribute to the development and modification of software programs, guiding software releases, and troubleshooting system-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.
  • Manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency.
  • Guide and manage software releases for new features.
  • Support users through consolidation and perform administrative operations of server hardware and software.
  • Ensure system security and execute practices and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot system-related problems and remain current in operating systems/software analysis.
  • Recommend future direction or projects to management.
  • Provide expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience in IT and/or software development.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II certification required (Level III preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and agile development teams.
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools such as Concourse, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Bamboo, or TeamCity.
  • Experience in VMware vSphere/ESXi/NSX-T and networking technologies.
  • Proficient in using Git and release management.
  • Experience supporting production systems using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack.
  • Familiarity with automation/orchestration tools like Chef, Ansible, or BOSH.
  • Experience with platform as a service products such as Cloud Foundry or Heroku.
  • Understanding of systems monitoring and analytics tools like Prometheus or Splunk.
  • Background in Windows deployment and automation technologies.
  • Experience with databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
