About the position

As a DevOps Engineer at GDIT, you will deliver innovative solutions to complex problems, focusing on application development and enhancing user experience. This role involves supporting USSOCOM at Fort Liberty, NC, and requires expertise in cloud services, automation, and system security. You will be responsible for managing platform services, ensuring system reliability, and guiding software releases while remaining current with technological advancements.

Responsibilities

  • Automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.
  • Manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency.
  • Guide and manage software releases for new features.
  • Support users through consolidation and troubleshoot system-related problems.
  • Perform administrative operations of server hardware and software.
  • Ensure system security and execute practices and procedures.
  • Provide expertise in the development or modification of software programs and applications.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of related experience in IT and/or software development.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II certification required (Level III preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud technologies.
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, or TeamCity.
  • Experience in VMware vSphere/ESXi/NSX-T.
  • Proficient in networking technologies (load balancing, DNS, SSL, etc.).
  • Experience using Git and in release management.
  • Experience supporting production systems using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack.
  • Familiarity with automation/orchestration tools like Chef, Ansible, or BOSH.
  • Experience with platform as a service products such as Cloud Foundry or Heroku.
  • Understanding of systems monitoring and analytics tools.
  • Background in Windows deployment and automation.
  • Experience with databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
