About the position

As a DevOps Engineer at GDIT, you will deliver innovative solutions to complex problems, focusing on application development and enhancing the end-user experience. This role supports USSOCOM at Fort Liberty, NC, and involves managing distributed services, automating installations, and ensuring system security and reliability. Your expertise will guide software releases and provide technical leadership, contributing to a safer and smarter future.

Responsibilities

  • Automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.
  • Manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency.
  • Guide and manage software releases for new features.
  • Support users through consolidation and troubleshoot system-related problems.
  • Perform administrative operations of server hardware and software.
  • Ensure system security and execute practices and procedures.
  • Remain current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments.
  • Provide expertise in the development or modification of software programs and applications.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of IT and/or software or related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or 4+ years of equivalent experience.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II required (Level III preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and agile development teams.
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools like Concourse, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity.
  • Experience in VMware vSphere / ESXi / NSX-T.
  • Experience with networking technologies (e.g., load balancing, DNS, SSL, firewalls, NAT, SDN).
  • Experienced in using Git and release management.
  • Experience supporting production systems using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack.
  • Experience with automation/orchestration tools like Chef, Ansible, BOSH.
  • Experience with platform as a service products such as Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Understanding of systems monitoring, alerting, and analytics tools.
  • Background in Windows deployment and automation technologies.
  • Experience with database and messaging middleware technologies.
