About the position

As a DevOps Cloud Engineer at GDIT, you will deliver innovative solutions tailored to the unique requirements of clients, focusing on application development and enhancing user experience. Your role will involve supporting USSOCOM at Fort Liberty, NC, by managing distributed services, automating platform services, and ensuring system security and reliability. You will also provide technical guidance and leadership to less experienced engineers, contributing to a mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.
  • Manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency.
  • Guide and manage software releases for new features.
  • Perform administrative operations of server hardware and software.
  • Ensure system security and execute practices and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot system-related problems.
  • Remain current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments.
  • Recommend future direction or projects to management.
  • Provide expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of IT and/or software or related experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or 4+ years of equivalent experience.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II required (Level III preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Participated in or led agile development teams.
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps methodologies.
  • Worked with Continuous Integration tools like Concourse, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity.
  • Experience in VMware vSphere / ESXi / NSX-T.
  • Experience with networking and related technologies (e.g., load balancing, DNS, SSL, firewalls, NAT, SDN).
  • Experienced in using Git.
  • Experience in release management.
  • Experience supporting production systems using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills; shows tact; effective listening skills and follow-through.
  • Detail-oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack.
  • Experience with automation/orchestration tools like Chef, Ansible, BOSH.
  • Experience with platform as a service products such as Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Experience working with DNS, NTP, SAML, OAuth 2, Active Directory.
  • Understanding of systems monitoring, alerting, and analytics tools (e.g., Prometheus, New Relic, ELK).
  • Background in Windows deployment, automation, and related technologies.
  • Experience with database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MSSQL) and messaging middleware technologies (e.g., RabbitMQ).
