About the position

As a DevOps Cloud Engineer at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), you will play a crucial role in supporting the Department of Defense's mission by delivering innovative solutions tailored to the unique requirements of clients. Your focus will be on automating and managing platform services, ensuring system reliability, and enhancing user experience through effective software development practices. Responsibilities

  • Automate the installation, configuration, and maintenance of platform services.
  • Manage system tuning for reliability and efficiency.
  • Guide and manage software releases for new features.
  • Support users through consolidation and troubleshoot system-related problems.
  • Perform administrative operations of server hardware and software.
  • Ensure system security and execute practices and procedures.
  • Remain current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments.
  • Provide expertise and direction in the development or modification of software programs and applications.

Requirements

  • 5 years of IT and/or software experience.
  • DOD 8570 IAT Level II required (Level III preferred).
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Participated in or led agile development teams.
  • In-depth understanding of DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools like Concourse, Spinnaker, Jenkins, Bamboo, TeamCity.
  • Experience in VMware vSphere / ESXi / NSX-T.
  • Experience with networking technologies (e.g., load balancing, DNS, SSL, firewalls, NAT, SDN).
  • Experienced in using Git.
  • Experience in release management.
  • Experience supporting production systems using Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and OpenStack.
  • Experience with automation/orchestration tools like Chef, Ansible, BOSH.
  • Experience with platform as a service products such as Cloud Foundry, Heroku, Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Experience working with DNS, NTP, SAML, OAuth 2, Active Directory.
  • Understanding of systems monitoring and analytics tools (e.g., Prometheus, New Relic, Splunk).
  • Background in Windows deployment and automation technologies.
  • Experience with databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MSSQL) and messaging middleware technologies (e.g., RabbitMQ).
