About the position

The DevOps/Cloud Security Engineer will play a crucial role in planning, building, and managing security for the cloud network and infrastructure of a DHS client. This position focuses on designing secure architectures, protecting data, monitoring security risks, ensuring compliance, educating others on security practices, responding to breaches, and developing new security strategies for cloud-based applications. The role requires collaboration with software developers to automate code deployment using CI/CD principles.

Responsibilities

  • Designing secure architectures by selecting cloud services and configurations that minimize risk.
  • Protecting data and assets through technologies like encryption and managing identity and access controls.
  • Monitoring for security risks by conducting regular security assessments, including penetration testing.
  • Ensuring compliance by conducting compliance audits and working with third-party auditors.
  • Educating others to foster a culture of security awareness.
  • Responding to computer security breaches and viruses.
  • Developing new designs and security strategies for cloud-based applications.
  • Collaborating with software developers to spin up a cloud environment and automate code using CI/CD principles.

Requirements

  • 4 years of professional experience in DevOps or Cloud Security Engineering.
  • Advanced knowledge in cloud design patterns.
  • Proficiency in implementing and managing identity solutions like AWS IAM and Azure Active Directory, including multi-factor authentication and role-based access control.
  • Knowledge of virtual network configuration, security groups, firewalls, and VPN connections in cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud compliance frameworks, security best practices, and tools for monitoring, logging, and auditing cloud resources across AWS and Azure environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages (SQL, Python, Go, Java, TypeScript).
  • Proficient with GitLab and GitHub.
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform, and Pulumi.
