About the position

As a DevOps Engineer and Administrator at Booz Allen Hamilton, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the technology that supports the Navy. Your unique blend of people skills and technical expertise will enable you to solve complex problems and improve systems that are vital for Department of Defense (DoD) organizations. In this position, you will be responsible for building and managing a system that leverages Cloud technology, reduces data center infrastructure, and significantly enhances overall security postures. In your role, you will support various maintenance activities, which include evaluating, integrating, fielding, administering, testing, and operating networks, systems, and subsystems within a virtual and cloud-based environment. You will be tasked with configuring and maintaining operational environments that include Windows, Red Hat Linux, and AWS cloud-based servers. Your responsibilities will also involve working with DoD ACAS and HBSS products to perform system security scans, execute maintenance scripts, and update group policies. Collaboration with Information Assurance teams will be essential as you monitor system activities and modify configurations to address security threats and requirements. Additionally, you will maintain data storage, management, and system backups, support Microsoft IIS and SQL applications, and manage network traffic, routing, firewalls, and load balancing devices. Your role will also require you to design, develop, and implement system changes and enhancements while ensuring that you maintain the necessary cybersecurity workforce certifications. Responsibilities

  • Support maintenance activities including evaluation, integration, fielding, administration, testing, and operations of networks, systems, and subsystems in a virtual and cloud-based environment.
  • Configure and maintain operational Windows, Red Hat Linux, and AWS cloud-based server environments.
  • Work with DoD ACAS and HBSS products to perform system security scans and group policy updates.
  • Execute maintenance scripts and jobs to ensure system functionality.
  • Collaborate with Information Assurance teams to monitor system activities and modify configurations in response to security threats.
  • Maintain data storage, management, and system backups.
  • Support Microsoft IIS and SQL applications.
  • Manage network traffic, routing, firewalls, and load balancing devices.
  • Design, develop, and implement system changes and enhancements.

Requirements

  • Experience implementing and configuring IT infrastructure systems, including operating systems, applications, databases, and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with a wide variety of technologies and products, including VMware ESXi, Windows, network switches and routers, next-generation firewalls, VoIP technologies, security appliances, load-balancing hardware, and various supporting software applications and programs.
  • Experience building, delivering, and managing Cloud IaaS environments using IaaS platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2, Network, ELB, S3, and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with multiple operating systems such as Red Hat Linux and Windows Server 2016.
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment with CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab, or automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
  • Experience with DoD security implementation, including STIG and security tools such as HBSS, ACAS, SIEM, and Cloud security best practices.
  • Ability to interface and effectively communicate with customers at all levels, and guide and support decision making.
  • Secret clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or 6+ years of experience implementing and configuring IT infrastructure systems in lieu of a degree.
  • DoD8140 or Security+ Certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3+ years of experience with DevOps and automation frameworks, including Chef, Docker, Puppet, or Jenkins.
  • Experience with scripting or software development, including PowerShell or Python.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • AWS or Microsoft Cloud Certified Associate or Professional Certification.
