The engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting code, resolving coding issues, and serving as a liaison between application development teams and operational infrastructure teams. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure the availability and scalability of systems, coordinating the release of new or revised software, and monitoring performance to meet service level agreements (SLAs). The DevOps Engineer II will utilize various tools, including Application Performance Monitoring (APM), to monitor production systems, remediate issues, and implement performance and cost improvements. The position also involves driving DevOps automation and containerization strategies, planning, designing, testing, and delivering applications and infrastructure using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) models. Candidates should have hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, scripting, and automation development, as well as familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and other relevant technologies. This intermediate-level role requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a technical discipline or related field. The engineer will engage with information security to enhance the CI/CD framework with DevSecOps practices and will be responsible for enforcing quality controls throughout the build, test, and deployment processes. The position demands strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders. Overall, the DevOps Engineer II is expected to demonstrate a sense of urgency and accountability while collaborating with various teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots code and assists with the resolution of coding issues.
  • Serves as a liaison between application development teams and operational infrastructure teams, integrating the full software deployment lifecycle.
  • Reviews application requirements and anticipates system needs to ensure availability and scalability of systems.
  • Coordinates the release of new or revised software or systems and monitors performance.
  • Monitors production systems using APM and other tools; remediates production issues and implements performance/cost improvements.
  • Identifies capacity and performance issues to ensure SLAs are met.
  • Ensures pre-production environments are built and managed.
  • Drives DevOps automation and containerization strategies that align with DevOps principles and standards.
  • Plans, designs, tests, and delivers applications and infrastructure using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) model.
  • Designs and builds pipelines, automation, containers, and Infrastructure as Code for enterprise applications.
  • Implements standards and best practices for the CI/CD framework.
  • Engages with information security to augment the CI/CD framework with DevSecOps and standardized security tools and controls.
  • Enforces quality controls and gates to the build, test, and deploy process while establishing Definition of Ready and Definition of Done to ensure quality of delivery.
  • Collaborates on and provides input into the CICD roadmap, identifying gaps and dependencies.
  • Performs DevOps health assessments on existing pipelines, identifying gaps and recommendations.
  • Documents services and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in technical discipline or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a technical discipline or related field.
  • Must have experience with MS Azure and scripting.
  • Experience with software development and supporting developers.
  • Experience with one or more development languages, such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, C++, or similar.
  • Experience with "on-premises to cloud" migrations or IT transformations.
  • Ability to communicate ideas both verbally and in written form in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of basic IT technologies (i.e., operating systems, network devices, software development and architecture).
  • Debugging skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to understand and apply technical concepts.
  • Team skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with standard IT security practices such as identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate, and key management.
