About the position

Echostar is seeking a skilled Sr DevOps Engineer to enhance operations within the Hughes Network Systems division. This role focuses on building and managing services that provision, scale, and operate Hughes Business Solutions, primarily through efficient coding and system administration in a Linux environment.

Responsibilities

• Write efficient, reusable, and reliable Python code, focusing on web application development.
• Design, implement, and maintain data workflows and pipelines using Apache Airflow.
• Schedule and monitor tasks for data processing and orchestration.
• Demonstrate proficiency in system administration tasks, shell scripting, and troubleshooting in a Linux environment.
• Participate in code reviews, analyze and troubleshoot issues, and provide constructive feedback to peers.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality software.
• Utilize version control systems (e.g., Git) for collaborative development workflows.
• Create and maintain clear, detailed, and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Seek opportunities to enhance skills and share knowledge within the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5 years of professional experience in Python development, with a strong focus on Flask/ReactJS, Apache Airflow, networking, databases, and Linux.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of networking concepts and experience with Fortinet, VeloCloud, Cisco Meraki, Cradlepoint, Juniper, Aruba vendor platforms.
• Proficiency with RESTful API development and familiarity with FastAPI or Litestar Python API frameworks.
• Deep understanding of ReactJS for web application development.
• Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Understanding of DevOps practices, performance benchmarking, and tools.
