About the position

Seagate's IT Global Infrastructure Services (GIS) organization is seeking an intern to assist with optimizing and improving business processes and projects. The intern will work with the IT Infrastructure team in the Kubernetes cluster operator role, focusing on automating support activities and analyzing the microservices environment for efficiency and better ROI. The goal is to provide reliable compute, storage, and network services to Seagate's global operations.

Responsibilities

• Understand the Kubernetes cluster operator role and optimize supportability of the platform.
• Inventory Kubernetes microservices, analyze distribution and usage, and trend growth from a compute/storage perspective.
• Analyze security best practices to ensure Infosec compliance.
• Write and maintain scripts and tools primarily in Python and Bash to streamline processes.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Produce documentation for completed tasks according to established standards.
• Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Requirements

• UNIX and Linux system administration experience including ssh, monitoring processes, and managing storage.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, Linux operating system, file systems, and storage technologies.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Shell Scripting.
• Understanding of automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
• Desire to automate tasks rather than perform them manually.
• Familiarity with monitoring and system alerting tools.
• Strong communication skills and ability to proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Self-motivated, independent, and a team player with strong analytical skills.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields, enrolled in Fall 2025 classes.
