About the position

The DevOps Engineer position is focused on the engineering of a collaboration workflow platform that integrates commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software, open-source solutions, and custom microservices. The role requires an active Top Secret/SCI Clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph and involves both onsite work in Annapolis Junction, MD and some remote work as project tasking allows. The engineer will be responsible for deploying applications, managing servers and networks, ensuring system security and performance, and providing 24/7 emergency support on a rotating pager schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy applications and manage server configurations.
  • Install and configure complex software systems.
  • Monitor and maintain system security and performance levels.
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages in the system.
  • Work a rotating pager schedule for emergency 24/7 call-in support.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Proficiency in AWS, MASH, and VMs.
  • Knowledge of relational databases such as Amazon RDS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQL.
  • Experience with networking, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Proficient in Terraform scripting and VM provisioning.
  • Experience in deploying distributed web applications.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Docker Compose container technology.
  • Knowledge of Docker Swarm and Public Key Infrastructure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with eVo, CoDE, and UWE environments.
  • Familiarity with API Gateways.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK) maintenance and configuration.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting and development.
  • Knowledge of Java and Spring Boot troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Kafka Message Broker and Hazelcast Memory Cache.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and Zookeeper.
  • Experience with Nginx Web Server and Ansible scripting.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices, Jira, and Confluence.
