About the position

The DevOps Engineer with Python role is focused on modernizing legacy systems for a leading U.S. financial services client. The position involves migrating a Windows COTS platform and transitioning from a monolithic architecture to a microservices model. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, DevOps principles, and cloud architecture, with a passion for delivering high-quality solutions on an aggressive schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Modernize the Windows COTS platform and evaluate the legacy monolithic architecture.
  • Break out the rules engine and provide customized data structures as the team transitions to a microservices model.
  • Deliver applications from architectural design to production implementation.
  • Deploy scalable, distributed systems or multi-node database paradigms via Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Implement cloud software design and containerized micro-services with AWS.
  • Conduct unit testing of applications and code before deployment.
  • Participate in Agile Software Development processes.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering and DevOps practices.
  • 5+ years of experience delivering applications from architectural design to production implementation.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience deploying scalable, distributed systems or multi-node database paradigms via Docker/Kubernetes.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud software design and distributed caching with Spring Boot and AWS.
  • Strong proficiency in Python coding and concepts.
  • Experience in end-to-end development with a 'you build it, you own it' mentality.
  • Working knowledge of Windows COTS products applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Perl.
  • Application modernization experience with COTS applications.
  • Prior experience in the financial services industry.
  • Recent experience working in an AWS environment with tools such as EMR, Lambda, EC2, Kinesis, S3, ElastiCache/Redis, FSx.
