About the position

The position at General Atomics involves designing and implementing secure automation solutions for various environments, including development, testing, and production. The role focuses on building and deploying automation, monitoring, and analysis solutions while managing the continuous integration and delivery pipeline to enhance efficiency. The candidate will also be responsible for system hardening, configuration management, and operational administration, ensuring that all solutions meet customer service standards and reduce errors.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement secure automation solutions for development, testing, and production environments.
  • Build and deploy automation, monitoring, and analysis solutions.
  • Manage continuous integration and delivery pipeline to maximize efficiency.
  • Implement industry best practices for system hardening and configuration management.
  • Develop and maintain solutions for operational administration, system/data backup, disaster recovery, and security/performance monitoring.
  • Continuously evaluate existing systems against industry standards and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Build and maintain tools, solutions, and microservices associated with deployment and operations platform.
  • Test system integrity, implemented designs, application developments, and other processes related to infrastructure, making improvements as needed.
  • Manage code deployments, fixes, updates, and related processes.
  • Work with open-source technologies as needed.
  • Utilize CI and CD tools, and source control such as GIT and SVN.
  • Offer technical support where needed, developing software for back-end systems.
  • Stay current with industry trends and source new ways for business improvement.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Understanding of system administration in various OS environments.
  • Strong knowledge of configuration management tools.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, Travis CI, Circle CI.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages including Bash, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to drive to goals and milestones while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Full understanding of software development lifecycle best practices.
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with open-source technologies.
  • Familiarity with additional CI/CD tools.
