About the position

We're seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer / Infrastructure Specialist to manage and optimize our critical development infrastructure. This role is essential for maintaining a reliable, efficient, and scalable environment to support our software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GitLab, JFrog Artifactory, Linux administration, monitoring tools, physical servers, networking and VMware ESXi. In this position, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining GitLab and Gerrit instances on-premises, configuring CI/CD pipelines, repositories, user access, and security settings. You will troubleshoot GitLab issues and optimize performance while staying updated on GitLab features and best practices. Additionally, you will administer JFrog Artifactory for artifact management, ensuring efficient artifact storage and retrieval, and integrating Artifactory with CI/CD pipelines and development tools. Your responsibilities will also include server administration for both Linux and Windows environments, where you will manage and maintain physical and virtual servers, perform system updates, security patching, and performance tuning. You will troubleshoot server issues to ensure high availability and automate routine server administration tasks. Furthermore, you will manage the monitoring stack using tools like Zabbix, Prometheus, and Grafana, configuring alerts, dashboards, and visualizations to track system health and analyze monitoring data to identify and resolve issues proactively. You will also manage VMware ESXi hosts and virtual machines, provisioning and configuring VMs, storage, and networking, while monitoring ESXi performance and resource utilization. Networking hardware management will be part of your role, ensuring network connectivity, security, and performance for build/release infrastructure, troubleshooting network issues, and optimizing configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain GitLab / Gerrit instances (on-premises).
  • Configure CI/CD pipelines, repositories, user access, and security settings.
  • Troubleshoot GitLab issues and optimize performance.
  • Stay updated on GitLab features and best practices.
  • Administer JFrog Artifactory for artifact management (binaries, libraries, etc.).
  • Integrate Artifactory with CI/CD pipelines and development tools.
  • Ensure efficient artifact storage and retrieval.
  • Manage and maintain physical and virtual servers.
  • Perform system updates, security patching, and performance tuning.
  • Troubleshoot server issues and ensure high availability.
  • Automate routine server administration tasks.
  • Manage and maintain the monitoring stack (Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
  • Configure alerts, dashboards, and visualizations to track system health.
  • Analyze monitoring data to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Optimize monitoring configurations for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manage VMware ESXi hosts and virtual machines (VMs).
  • Provision and configure VMs, storage, and networking.
  • Monitor ESXi performance and resource utilization.
  • Perform ESXi updates and maintenance.
  • Manage and configure networking hardware (switches, routers, firewalls).
  • Ensure network connectivity, security, and performance for build/release infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and optimize configurations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in a Staff DevOps or systems administration role.
  • Deep expertise in GitLab & Jenkins CI/CD and JFrog Artifactory.
  • Strong experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong Linux administration skills (Ubuntu, CentOS etc.).
  • Proficiency in monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
  • Solid understanding of VMware ESXi and virtualization concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Familiarity with scripting (Bash, Python, PowerShell) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
  • Familiarity with networking hardware configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience and knowledge of software packages and dependencies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of network administration and security best practices.
  • Certifications in relevant technologies.
