About the position

Aviture is seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer to join their mission-driven team. The role involves implementing modern application delivery techniques, providing thought leadership on infrastructure and security, and improving the performance and scalability of deployed systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering and a passion for continuous learning and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a cross-functional team to implement modern techniques for application delivery (Continuous Delivery, GitOps, etc.)
  • Provide thought leadership on infrastructure, architecture, and security matters across the organization.
  • Improve the monitoring, performance, security, and scalability of deployed systems.
  • Manage the security accreditation process for products and adjudicate findings.
  • Assess and improve upon DevOps practices across the organization with engineering leadership.
  • Improve configuration management to ensure all systems are properly and consistently updated.
  • Stay up to date on the latest DevOps tools and practices.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Software Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to respectfully challenge the status quo.
  • Understanding of security and its application to the development and operation of information systems.
  • Strong understanding of computer networking, system scalability design, and troubleshooting of complex systems.
  • Experience implementing security, automation, monitoring, analytics, and feedback mechanisms for running systems.
  • Experience supporting security accreditation processes, including static analysis, CVE scans, and operating system hardening.
  • Proficiency in Linux-based operating systems.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab.
  • Experience deploying and managing services on major cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI).
  • Understanding of cloud-native application design and implementation is desirable.
  • Experience with automated cloud deployment tooling such as CloudFormation, CDK, ARM, Terraform.
  • Experience developing code in one or more programming languages (Python, Java, C#/.NET, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an agile development team.

Nice-to-haves

  • CompTIA Security+ certification or other security-related certification, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Current US government security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
