About the position
As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for recommending, implementing, and maintaining continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline templates and best practices. You will manage, develop, and implement solutions to further expand our use of deployment and test automation technology across the organization following business objectives. Additionally, you will serve as a primary point of contact and subject matter expert for application deployment-related issues, concerns, and needs. Your role will involve effectively translating use cases and requirements into repeatable processes and system designs, and working with software developers and engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended. Staying current with industry trends, IT ops, and industry best practices will be essential to identify the ones we should implement.
Responsibilities
- Recommend, implement, and maintain continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline templates and best practices.
- Manage, develop, and implement solutions to further expand our use of deployment and test automation technology across the organization following business objectives.
- Serve as a primary point of contact and subject matter expert for application deployment-related issues, concerns, and needs.
- Effectively translate use cases and requirements into repeatable processes and system designs.
- Work with software developers and engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended.
- Stay current with industry trends, IT ops, and industry best practices, and identify the ones we should implement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Three or more years of experience working with CI/CD focused on pipeline implementation and deployment.
- Experience automating deployments.
- Working knowledge of databases like SQL.
- Proficiency with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or YAML.
- Proficiency with Git and/or GitHub.
- Familiarity with monitoring & alerting capabilities using industry-leading tools like Datadog.
Nice-to-haves
- Expertise in Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) Tools such as GitHub Workflows, Azure Pipelines, or GitLab pipelines.
- Experience with Containerization and Orchestration Tools like Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Familiarity with Cloud Platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience with Monitoring and Logging Tools like Nagios, Datadog, Grafana, or Prometheus.
- Experience with Source Code Management Tools like GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with Virtualization Tools such as VirtualBox, VMware, or Docker.
- Knowledge of various code branching strategies such as trunk-based or Gitflow Workflow.
