About the position

The Leidos Spatial Solutions Division is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to play a pivotal role in the integration, deployment, and sustainment of critical systems. This position will primarily focus on leading the program's Multi-cloud DevOps capabilities, particularly within AWS cloud environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for cloud migration efforts and the modernization of applications that are utilized globally, including the Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) Pipeline. The role requires integrating new and modernized programs into the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) CI/CD CORE DevOps pipelines, ensuring seamless operations and enhancements. In addition to the technical responsibilities, the DevOps Engineer will engage in Business Intelligence and Dashboard Development. This includes developing, implementing, and maintaining user-friendly dashboards that display program metrics, as well as generating ad-hoc data analysis reports for management and customers. The engineer will drive business intelligence initiatives and foster data-driven innovations to enhance operational efficiency. The role also encompasses Data Analysis and Monitoring, where the engineer will be tasked with monitoring application volumes using historical data and current events, notifying management of volume trends and significant spikes, and monitoring traffic to provide clear, data-driven recommendations. Performance and SLA Management are critical components of this position, requiring the engineer to monitor program performance and manage monthly performance reporting. Collaboration is key in this role, as the engineer will participate in Agile software development initiatives, including standups and planning sessions, to support the innovation and enhancement of custom applications through iterative testing and functionality assessments. The engineer will work closely with team members to assess tickets, ensuring proper testing and delivery of functionality according to User Story Acceptance Criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Lead program's Multi-cloud DevOps capability spanning AWS cloud environments.
  • Integrate new and modernized programs into the NGA CI/CD CORE DevOps pipelines.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain user-friendly dashboards displaying program metrics.
  • Generate ad-hoc data analysis reports for management and customers.
  • Drive business intelligence initiatives and data-driven innovations.
  • Monitor and project application volumes using historical data and current events.
  • Notify management of volume trends and significant spikes.
  • Monitor traffic and communicate data-driven recommendations.
  • Monitor program performance and SLA adherence.
  • Manage monthly performance reporting.
  • Participate in program Agile software development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with team members to assess tickets for proper testing and delivery of functionality.

Requirements

  • Proficient in AWS/Cloud technologies.
  • Proficient in OpenShift AWS hosting platforms.
  • Experience in software development or software integration projects in a service-oriented environment.
  • Experience with cloud-based architectures.
  • Understanding of DevOps methodologies and workflow.
  • Knowledge of Architectural, Software Development, and Software Sustainment Practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (S3 Buckets, EC2, Reserved Instances, etc.).
  • Experience with System Engineering documentation creation (VDDs, diagrams, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Team Collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, RocketChat).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Typically requires a BS in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or closely related discipline and 4 to 8 years of prior relevant experience or a Masters with 2+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Proactive self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills.
