About the position

Netapp's Engineering Tools and Services (ETS) organization is responsible for the automation and testing infrastructure utilized by our product development and QA teams. We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our globally distributed team that supports a range of tools to serve the needs and improve the efficiency of our developers at NetApp. As a DevOps engineer, you can expect your day-to-day responsibilities to include supporting services, tools, modules, and applications to improve the quality of life for software development engineers and operations engineers. You will work across different tools and programs such as source code management, project/defect tracking, code security/signing, and collaboration tools supporting developers across NetApp. In this role, you will promote our DevOps best practices by collaborating with developers and managers during various phases of development. You will implement tooling and integrations that improve the security posture of the platform and our customers/teams. Additionally, you will manage stakeholders and external interfaces, handle incident management, and conduct root cause analysis. Collaboration across time zones (San Jose, RTP, Bengaluru), teams, and business functions will be essential for team projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support services, tools, modules, and applications to improve the quality of life for software development engineers and operations engineers
  • Work across different tools and programs such as source code management, project/defect tracking, code security/signing, collaboration tools supporting developers across NetApp
  • Promote our DevOps best practices by collaborating with developers/managers during various phases of development
  • Implement tooling and integrations that improve security posture of platform and our customers/teams
  • Managing stakeholders and external interfaces
  • Incident management and root cause analysis
  • Collaborate across time zones (San Jose, RTP, Bengaluru), teams, and business functions as needed for team projects

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience or certifications in DevOps tools
  • Experience working on both Windows and Linux based infrastructure
  • Programming experience in Python, Go, Perl, Java, C, C++ (shell scripting is also desirable)
  • Administrative experience with any DevOps tools
  • Working knowledge of databases - MySQL/PostgreSQL/Mongo
  • Experience with Atlassian tools like Jira, Confluence
  • Source code management tools such as GitHub/Bitbucket/Perforce
  • Log ingest and dashboarding tools like Splunk, logscale
  • Understanding of Secure Development Lifecycle and system security best practices
  • Awareness of critical concepts in DevOps and Agile principles
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • A minimum of 2-5 years' experience is required
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, a master's degree; or equivalent experience is required
