About the position

As a DevOps Engineer at Slalom, you will be part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to solving our clients' most critical and complex business challenges. This role is pivotal in gathering technical requirements, assessing client capabilities, and analyzing findings to provide tailored DevOps solutions, recommendations, and adoption strategies. You will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and deploying highly scalable and resilient cloud-based applications on both private and public cloud platforms. Your expertise in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud will be essential as you take ownership of key architecture decisions and leverage your experience with tools and techniques to design automated deployments using a DevOps approach. In this position, you will collaborate with multiple functional and technical teams to deliver projects that meet client needs. You will utilize your skills in Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, CDK, and CloudFormation, as well as your experience with CI/CD pipeline orchestration tools like Jenkins, Gitlab, CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, and ECS. Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript will also be beneficial as you work on backend and API development. Your ability to communicate effectively with clients on a business level and translate their needs into technical solutions will be crucial for success in this role. Additionally, having a Solution Architect and/or DevOps Level Certification in one of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure) will enhance your qualifications for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Gather technical requirements, assess client capabilities, and analyze findings to provide appropriate DevOps solutions, recommendations, and adoption strategies.
  • Design, build, test, and deploy highly scalable and resilient cloud-based applications on private and public clouds.
  • Develop deep expertise with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud.
  • Take ownership of key architecture decisions.
  • Use experience with tools and techniques to design automated deployments using a DevOps approach.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of building, deploying and operating web apps.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi, CDK, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with Source and Configuration Management tools.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline orchestration (e.g., Jenkins, Gitlab, CodeBuild, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, ECS).
  • Familiarity with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript).
  • Experience collaborating across multiple functional/technical teams to deliver a project.
  • Comfortable with backend and API development.
  • Enthusiastic about learning new technologies quickly and applying the gained knowledge to address business problems.
  • Ability to communicate with clients on a business level and translate their needs into a technical solution.
  • Solution Architect and/or DevOps Level Certification in one of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
