About the position

The DevOps Engineer role at Hallmark is designed to bridge the gap between software development and IT operations, focusing on improving collaboration, efficiency, and automation within the software development lifecycle. This position is part of the Digital Center of Excellence (DCOE) team, which is responsible for building a consumer-focused digital platform that enhances Hallmark's direct-to-consumer strategies. The role involves streamlining deployment pipelines, automating tasks, and implementing CI/CD practices to accelerate software delivery while ensuring reliability and quality. Experienced engineers will lead strategic initiatives, mentor junior team members, and ensure compliance with security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Streamline the deployment pipeline and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and automation within the team.
  • Lead strategic initiatives for infrastructure automation and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor junior team members and manage risks effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of professional work experience.
  • 4 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or Software Developer.
  • Experience with Terraform, Gitlab Pipelines, AWS, and Docker.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, Splunk, New Relic, CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • 3 years of experience with SQL and Aurora Databases.
  • 4 years of experience in Python, Java, and/or Ruby.
  • 4 years of experience in scripting languages such as Bash and/or PowerShell.
  • 4 years of experience in DevOps tools and technologies.
  • 4 years of experience in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or information technology.
  • Familiarity with software development practices such as version control, code review, and testing.
  • Experience in scripting languages to automate tasks and implement infrastructure as code (IaC) practices.
  • Experience using version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD), and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Experience with containerization platforms (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standards.
