About the position

As a DevOps Engineer at KU Endowment, you will play a vital role in the new data product team, supporting Advancement Services and business intelligence by building and operating a data warehouse. This position is part of the information systems DevOps Data product team, focusing on the development and support of data services. You will be responsible for providing highly available and secured information to staff, collaborating with teammates and stakeholders to optimize data usage towards the mission of KU Endowment. The role requires embracing KU Endowment's core values and demonstrating support through professional interactions and activities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain data pipelines
  • Optimize databases for efficient storage and retrieval
  • Integrate data from multiple sources for unified views
  • Perform data quality assurance to validate and cleanse datasets
  • Monitor and log for optimal data performance
  • Automate data pipelines and ETL processes
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence and Advancement Services Data Analytics team
  • Work on collaborative project teams with consultants and business partners to select and build data warehouse
  • Utilize AI to enable actionable data for Advancement Services and frontline fundraising
  • Implement procedures to guarantee high availability and dependability of data services
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or three years' experience working as a data engineer
  • 3 years' experience in database management in a SQL environment
  • 2 years' Oracle MySQL database management experience
  • 1 year working with data storage solutions in cloud platforms
  • Demonstrated knowledge of programming languages such as Python, SQL, Bash, Ruby, Chef
  • Familiarity with warehousing solutions such as Snowflake, Redshift, or Big Query
  • Working knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark

  • Data governance experience
  • AI data experience building data models
  • Experience in data warehouse selection and implementation
  • Working knowledge of non-profit fundraising
  • Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate
  • Experience in PaaS (Products as a Service)
  • Creative problem solving
